The CORE Project Area

From Raleigh-Durham Airport on the east to the Research Triangle Park on the west, six local governments exercise land use control and plan for infrastructure: Durham County, Durham City, Wake County, Raleigh, Cary, and Morrisville. State and regional organizations, such as NCDOT, RDU, Research Triangle Park, and Triangle Transit Authority also have planned and/or are planning significant infrastructure investments in that area. In order to create a balanced, sustainable pattern of development in this area, Triangle J brings together local governments and regional partners through the Center Of the Region Enterprise (CORE).

The CORE work group has developed annexation agreements, mapped out a vision for land use, green space and mobility investments in the area, created a coordinated pedestrian-bicycle-greenspace plan, collected and synthesized information and mapping on development projects and infrastructure and served as a venue for cooperation on local plans and projects that affect neighboring communities. The work group meets quarterly to share information and work on cooperative efforts.
