Development & Infrastructure
The Development & Infrastructure Partnership brings together community, university and regional partners to work on long-term, regional strategies for the development and conservation of land, infrastructure to support development and improved mobility.
The Partnership is designed to:
- provide a better focus for complex, long-term, regional-scale development and infrastructure,
- enable local governments, regional organizations, universities and civic sector partners to identify and work together more systematically,
- create stronger, clearer links between development and infrastructure activities at the regional council and its partners.
The Partnership includes a new sponsor-driven Regional Strategic Initiatives effort which incorporates or expands four existing development and infrastructure-oriented programs:
- Center Of the Region Enterprise (CORE)
- Triangle Land Use/Transportation/Air Quality cooperative efforts by the region's Metropolitan Planning Organizations, Triangle Transit, and state and federal agencies
- Triangle Area Rural Planning Organization (TARPO)
- Smart Growth Education, Information and Technical Assistance
Activities within the new Regional Strategic Initiatives effort will:

- be closely tied to university and other partner strategic planning initiatives;
- address regional approaches to local government's planning and regulation of major projects with regional impacts;
- include a focus on innovative fiscal planning and options - recognizing the interconnectivity of the capital plans and fiscal health of all public entities within the Triangle.
