Project Impact
Project Impact is a community planning and outreach initiative to undertake actions that protect families, businesses and communities by reducing the effects of natural and technological disasters. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) provided grant funds Triangle J to put together a partnership to assess natural hazards, develop an action plan, and coordinate educational and outreach activities. The grant does not undertake specific disaster mitigation projects, but builds up the capacity and support for specific projects.

For more detailed information on Project Impact, download the report to your left or contact the person listed under "Staff Contact".
The initiative has four main parts:
- Building community partnerships in all sectors: local government leaders, health and emergency care providers, civic groups, businesses, and interested citizens
- Assessing the region's vulnerability to and risk for natural disasters
- Prioritizing places and facilities that are most susceptible to risk to target appropriate resources and reduce the impact of future disasters
- Providing on-going opportunities for additional involvement and support by updating citizens and businesses about what the partners are doing and how the region benefits from these efforts
Focus will be on the most prevalent hazards in the region. Some examples of potential hazards to be considered are:
Natural Hazards
- Drought
- Hurricane
- Earthquake
- Tornado
- Flood
- Wind
- Heat Wave
- Winter Storm
Technological Hazards
- Dam Failure
- Telecommunications Failure
- Weapons of Mass Destruction
